Brooklands Society Christmas & Greetings Cards

This year's card
Ref: 1 - Winter at Robin Jackson's

The painting Richard Wheatland has produced for this year's card is of 1934 Aston Martin CML 242, a 1½ litre second series long chassis sports saloon. The car is seen outside the Robinry with, in the background, the Eccles Supercharged Lagonda Rapier based special raced at Brooklands from 1935.

The Aston which, was Class winner at Pebble Beach in 1997, is now owned by member Keith Piper.

Our thanks to John Pulford the Brooklands Museum curator for this fun illustration of
the great man on the Members' Banking complete with blower, Brooklands can and fishtail.
The Santa Special was at one stage going to be called the 'Slippy Slippy Banking Special'
(as in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - get it?) but it was decided to err on the side of conservatism.
