1912 Sunbeam Coupe de l'Auto 2.1 litre

G9875.JPG (41520 bytes)

Entered by Lord Montagu's National Motor Museum at Beaulieu where it can be seen on permanent display in an excellent well organised museum setting when not out competing, and driven by Doug Hill, this was the Sunbeam which ushered in an era of agile small engined shaft drive Grand Prix cars. Built for the 1912 Coupe de l'Auto, the results spoke for themselves, the cars coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with Victor Rigal's car averaging 65.3 m.p.h.
