| In 1965 Jaguar created their first and only rear-engined car.
This is a four camshaft V12 fuel injected racing engine which was destined for Le Mans but
which in the event never raced. William Lyons decided that if Jaguar won, the achievement would not be of any value to the company. |
If on the other hand they lost, the adverse P.R. could have been very damaging. As many have discovered, even the great Ford Motor Company, winning Le Mans is not a trivial undertaking and W.L decided to err on the side of caution and commercial common sense. |
