1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K

Not just mouth-watering but decidedly macho with those exhaust pipes implying ample power embodied in the high precision mechanism under the bonnet called engine.

Clothed in a special roadster body coachbuilt by the factory, with a lot of chrome brightwork, it's a legend which was designed to make a statement about German supremacy and precision in the pre-war propaganda years.

This car is one of only two originally delivered to Britain. Abandoned for years it was eventually unearthed behind a butcher's shop in 1987 and is now in consequence known as the 'butcher's car.

Owned by the Hon Michael Kadoorie of Hong Kong, the restoration of the car which has preserved it's originality was completed in 1994 and has led to 'Best of Show' at Bagatelle and first in class at Pebble Beach.
