Photograph of the original corner of the
Campbell Circuit on the exact spot where Bira was going for the lead in
his Maserati all those years ago in the inaugural 1937 race. Looking
straight down the track you can see how far out across the track surface
the office block is encroaching. It is a pity the someone could
not have thought about this and changed the shape slightly so that this
did not happen.
If they had concreted the original track
surface to its original dimensions, with tarmac and soft landscaping outside its original
boundaries so that it could be used as a parade track, or even race a
track, even as a car park it would preserve something of
the original look of Brooklands. Unfortunately they did not consult the
Brooklands Society on look and feel during their design phase.
